c1869 Canton de Thurgovie, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costumes c1869 Canton de Thurgovie, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costumes A beautiful, and rare, hand tinted photograph by Adolphe Braun which is part of his series Costumes de Suisse from circa 1869. The Canton de Thurgovie, Switzerland features an attractive young lady standing beside a make shift saw horse table. Under the table are a pair of baskets. Sitting atop the table are carved miniature houses and animal figures. She is wearing a dress and hat typical of the area and posing with her hands on her hips. The photo card measures approx 8 1/8" x 6 3/8" with the actual image sizing being about 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". I believe the photograph is of French origin and use the albumen silver print technique. Condition: tanning, foxing, spotting and board is wavy from moisture with edge wear.
