c1869 Canton de Berne, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costumes De S c1869 Canton de Berne, Switzerland Tinted Photograph Adolphe Braun Costumes De S A beautiful, and rare, hand tinted photograph by Adolphe Braun which is part of his series Costumes de Suisse from circa 1869. The Canton de Berne, Switzerland features an attractive young lady standing in front of a city scape scene with fountain. She is wearing a dress typical of the area and posing with with a book in one hand and has a tassel covering her other hand which appears to be near a pocket. The photo card measures approx 8 1/8" x 6 3/8" with the actual image sizing being about 6 1/4" x 4 1/2". I believe the photograph is of French origin and use the albumen silver print technique. Condition: tanning, foxing, spotting and board is wavy from moisture with edge wear.
