Description
RUBIO CANYON, CALIFORNIA - Vintage 1925 Siver Gelatin (printing?) A distant image of a lady with a bonnet sitting high on her volume of hair. The rim on her hat cast a shade across her forehead, and deeply into her eyes, her nose softly there. And a mouth barely visible. (To take a better look, one needs a magnifier glass). This entire photograph becomes an intriguing natural abstraction at Rubio Canyon sorrounding this lady wearing a Duster Coat, her hands resting relaxed within its pockets that open up to her white blouse. 3 7/8 X 2 7/8 original photograph (not a reproduction); very thin paper. On reverse nicely written in sepia tone ink, TAKEN YR. 25 IN RUBIO CANYON, CAL. Selling as-is. A tiny irregular circle damage to paper bottom-right. Elsewhere having fine smooth crazing or none. Late 19th and early 20th centuries of Rubio Canyon are quite collectible. This photograph, most likely a silver gelatin, not sure what type of emulsion(s) and paper type used;1880s through 1925 were inventive periods. This visual addition to an institute, or history enthusiast existing collection could farther a visual story of place: Rubio Canyon during 19th century was known for First Nation lores, mysteries, the railway, its beauty; and particularly there, an enginering challenge to hightlight its recreation and to experience viewings of California's Rubio Canyon heights and depths.
