Newport Beach, California B al boa Pavilion & Main Street Hotel B al boa on far right Circa 1910s The Historical Landmark, B al boa Pavilion (California Landmark #959) was origin al ly built as a Victorian Bath House and southern terminus for the Pacific Electric Railway connecting the beach with downtown Los Angeles . It still exists today as one of the last surviving recreational pavilions in California. The HOTEL BALBOA was built in only 10 days to be ready for the arriv al of the big Pacific Electric Red Cars in 1906. This two-story, single w al l structure wasn't pretty but it housed thousands of tourists throughout the years. Today the B al boa Post Office stands on the site.
