Description
Here is an extremely rare lot of five (5) panoramic, original photographs of Ajaccio, Corsica, c. 1890s - 1900s, photographer unknown. There are street scenes, beach/port, and many local people. The photos are detailed; there is so much to take in in these photos. Also photographed: Statue of Napoleon in the Place Foch, Place de Gaulle/Monument Napoléon, waves crashing with citadel of Ajaccio in the background; a large group of children with a man look out on to the sea. These are mounted albumen prints. Each photo measures approximately 12.75" x 3.75" (some may be slightly smaller or larger). The cardboard mounts measure 13.25" x 4.5", respectively. There is light age-related wear (some marks/spots/slight curving at ends/back sides have marks). This is a one of a kind, once in a lifetime find.
